Visit Hovingham Hall and Castle Howard, dine at The Cook’s Place and hear Country Living’s smallholding columnist on this exclusive tour

Join Country Living columnist and smallholder Sally Coulthard from 'The New Good Life' to discover inspiring landscapes, historic houses, wonderful wildlife and a good helping of Yorkshire charm on this five-day tour.

You'll be based at the four-star Talbot Hotel, in the pretty town of Malton, close to its market square - an ideal base for exploring all that this region has to offer. Your itinerary begins with a guided tour of Rievaulx Abbey's impressive ruins. Uncover its fascinating past as you explore the museum, which displays previously unseen artefacts and wander the extensive ruins of the abbey.

Spend time at leisure in the market town of Helmsley before a very special visit to Hovingham Hall, in the company of Sally who will give a talk about her local landscapes, over tea and scones in the Hunting Hall - not usually open to the public. There will also be the opportunity to visit Sally's smallholding, weather permitting, where you can get a behind-the-scenes experience of Sally's life in Yorkshire.

Discover works of art by one of Britain's foremost wildlife artists, Robert E Fuller at his gallery. A recognised authority on wildlife, Robert may also give a talk for guests. A highlight of the trip will be an exclusive visit to stately home, Castle Howard, with a guided tour conducted by an experienced house guide, before it opens its doors to the public.

There will be plenty of time to explore Malton, known as Yorkshire's food capital - home to The Cook's Place, a cookery school run by Gilly Robinson. Dine upon 'an evening of Yorkshire produce', a fitting end to your trip.
