You'll be based at the four-star Talbot Hotel, in the pretty town of Malton, close to its market square - an ideal base for exploring all that this region has to offer. Your itinerary begins with a guided tour of Rievaulx Abbey's impressive ruins. Uncover its fascinating past as you explore the museum, which displays previously unseen artefacts and wander the extensive ruins of the abbey.
Spend time at leisure in the market town of Helmsley before a very special visit to Hovingham Hall, in the company of Sally who will give a talk about her local landscapes, over tea and scones in the Hunting Hall - not usually open to the public. There will also be the opportunity to visit Sally's smallholding, weather permitting, where you can get a behind-the-scenes experience of Sally's life in Yorkshire.
Discover works of art by one of Britain's foremost wildlife artists, Robert E Fuller at his gallery. A recognised authority on wildlife, Robert may also give a talk for guests. A highlight of the trip will be an exclusive visit to stately home, Castle Howard, with a guided tour conducted by an experienced house guide, before it opens its doors to the public.
There will be plenty of time to explore Malton, known as Yorkshire's food capital - home to The Cook's Place, a cookery school run by Gilly Robinson. Dine upon 'an evening of Yorkshire produce', a fitting end to your trip.

Make your own way to The Talbot Hotel, where you'll meet your Tour Manager for a welcome drink, and they will host a talk about the local area and the itinerary for the next few days. Later this evening enjoy dinner with the rest of your group at the hotel.

Day2Rievaulx Abbey and Hovingham HallHovingham, United Kingdom
After breakfast at the hotel, meet your coach driver and Tour Manager for the day's excursions. In the morning, you'll visit Rievaulx Abbey. Escape to this tranquil valley of the North York Moors and discover the impressive ruins of one of England's most powerful Cistercian monasteries. Discover its fascinating past and the lives of the monks who called Rievaulx Abbey their home. Explore the museum displaying previously unseen artefacts which tell the story of the rise and dramatic fall of the first Cistercian abbey in the North of England, and wander the extensive ruins of the abbey.
Rejoin the coach and explore the market town of Helmsley at leisure, with time for lunch, before reboarding the coach to Hovingham Hall. If conditions permit, there may be the opportunity to stop at Sally's smallholding, and she will give a brief tour of her own wonderful nook in the Howardian Hills.
Hovingham Hall was bought by the Worsley family in 1563 - and it was Thomas Worsley who designed and built Hovingham Hall. He was obsessed with horses and architecture and the house remains the product of the extraordinary fusion of these two obsessions. The hall isn't open to the public, you will go on an exclusive guided tour of the house, followed by a talk from Sally Coulthard about her local landscape in the Hunting Hall, with tea & scones.

Day3Malton and Robert E Fuller GalleryMalton, United Kingdom
This morning you will have time to explore the market town of Malton at your own pace. Perhaps, you'll peruse the independent retailers, or realise why Malton is famed for being Yorkshire's food capital.
In the afternoon, meet your coach driver and tour manager and transfer to the Robert E Fuller Gallery for a wildlife talk and time to view the gallery. Robert E Fuller is one of Britain's foremost wildlife artists and his trademark, highly detailed images have been adopted at home by the RSPB and the National Trust. He has exhibited in wildlife galleries across Europe and up to 7,000 people visit his own gallery in North Yorkshire each year.
Return to the hotel for dinner.

Day4Castle Howard and The Cook’s PlaceYork, United Kingdom
Today you will go on a special tour of Castle Howard before it opens its doors to the public, guided by an experienced house guide. This stately home is a private residence and has been the home of the Carlisle branch of the Howard family for more than 300 years. After the tour, enjoy some time to explore at leisure and take time for lunch at one of the many restaurants on the grounds.
In the afternoon, return to the hotel and enjoy some free time, before having dinner at The Cook's Place. The newly refurbished cookery school in Malton is run by the brilliant Gilly Robinson and specialises in courses from seafood to baking. You'll dine upon wonderful local fare in 'an evening of Yorkshire produce'.
