Hotel Review
The Jane Hotel, New York, USA
This historic, quirky hotel dating from 1907 on the edge of West Village across the street from Hudson River park was originally built for sailors and therefore the rooms are designed to feel like a ship's cabin. Although they are tiny, fitting little more than a single bed or bunks, they have character - and if you need more space, much larger, plusher ones are available. Standard rooms share bathrooms, while the larger ones have their own. A few survivors of the Titanic stayed here after being rescued in 1912 and the historic touches continue in the lobby, which features a wonderfully intricately-carved reception desk and vintage tiling. However the cramped rooms and aged appearance of the place won't be for everyone. Currently the restaurant and bar are closed, as they are being extensively renovated.
