WHAT WE LOVE...

This fantastic hotel located in Williamsburg, the hippest neighbourhood of Brooklyn, won't disappoint. Though it's in a quiet street, a notable contrast to the full-on experience that is most of Manhattan, there's a lively nightlife scene just a couple of blocks away, with boutique stores, cafés, bars, restaurants and clubs. The hotel was originally a factory and has kept lots of the original features, with swish décor made up of polished concrete, cast-iron pillars, exposed brick and floor-to-ceiling metalled windows all boosting the hip vibe. The ground floor restaurant and sixth floor bar/restaurant are buzzing in the evening and offer some innovative dishes and great cocktails. Manhattan is easily accessible too.

Being such a hip hotel in a trendy neighbourhood, the typical guest tends to be younger and casual and creative. The many original features that have been retained or repurposed give the property oodles of character.

The Brooklyn King rooms are light and spacious and have good views, the Manhattan Kings even better, with great skyline views. We love the characterful industrial chic feel of the décor; they've got it just right.

Food & Drink

The atmosphere in the buzzing Le Crocodile restaurant and The Blondeau Bar is fantastic. It's a rare thing. Like much of the menu at the Blondeau Bar, the Japanese fried chicken with mentaiko mayo has a really unusual, original and delicious taste.

Le Crocodile: French cuisine, dishes include trout 'almondine' and duck leg with kumquats, from $22. Open daily for dinner, Mon-Fri for lunch and Sat & Sun for brunch.
The Blondeau Bar: wines, cocktails, small plates. Dishes include seared bay scallops, tuna tartare and fennel salad, from $13. Open daily from 5pm till late.
