This fantastic hotel located in Williamsburg, the hippest neighbourhood of Brooklyn, won't disappoint. Though it's in a quiet street, a notable contrast to the full-on experience that is most of Manhattan, there's a lively nightlife scene just a couple of blocks away, with boutique stores, cafés, bars, restaurants and clubs. The hotel was originally a factory and has kept lots of the original features, with swish décor made up of polished concrete, cast-iron pillars, exposed brick and floor-to-ceiling metalled windows all boosting the hip vibe. The ground floor restaurant and sixth floor bar/restaurant are buzzing in the evening and offer some innovative dishes and great cocktails. Manhattan is easily accessible too.
There's a real laidback atmosphere to this neighbourhood, and it's a welcome change if you've had several days of full-on Manhattan.
The hotel is tucked away on a quiet road in central Williamsburg, you can reach Manhattan on the L train in minutes.

The atmosphere in the buzzing Le Crocodile restaurant and The Blondeau Bar is fantastic. It's a rare thing. Like much of the menu at the Blondeau Bar, the Japanese fried chicken with mentaiko mayo has a really unusual, original and delicious taste.
Le Crocodile: French cuisine, dishes include trout 'almondine' and duck leg with kumquats, from $22. Open daily for dinner, Mon-Fri for lunch and Sat & Sun for brunch.
