Hotel Review
Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, USA
This hotel opened in 2017 in the leafy Beverly Hills neighbourhood after around a decade of planning and with a reputed $200m budget. The results are suitably opulent: you sweep up the short drive into a grand lobby with soothing light jazz playing and immediately feel relaxed among the comfortable seating areas in beige and pale green, as well as an open fire under a magnificent chandelier. It has an old Hollywood feel despite its young age. Guest rooms are as luxurious as the public areas, with wall-to-ceiling windows showing off the spectacular views of the Hollywood and Beverly Hills. There's a choice of attractive restaurant/bar spaces, a top notch spa, 24-hour fitness centre and rooftop pool to complete what is a great ensemble.

Style & Character
The older, more dated style is reminiscent of the 1950s and suggests an older clientele, but there are a lot of younger guests around too. There's a pleasing Modern Art Deco theme throughout the hotel.
Service & Facilities
We love the heated pool on the large rooftop lounge deck, in a landscaped garden setting, and its panoramic views of the city. The lift talks to you; she apologises if the ride is taking too long, and thanks you for waiting.
