WHAT WE LOVE...

Blessed with an incredible setting, perched high on a hillside on a stretch of privately-owned land called the Ciocco Estate and Park, the hotel overlooks the beautiful, forested Serchio valley. Its 180 rooms, arranged over several different levels, all offer incredible views, which come into their own during sunrise and sunset. The property is vast, but doesn't feel empty or under-furnished, while its style feels comfortable and traditional, without being dated. Main restaurant, La Veranda, offers all day dining next to the Nour Lounge, which is the go-to for cocktails, aperitivi and snacks. The spa enhances the hotel's appeal as the perfect place for a destination wedding. One warning: beware the extremely narrow route into the private car park. If you don't want to risk scraping your vehicle, take advantage of the public, and free, parking outside the main gate.

Food & Drink

The atmosphere at La Veranda is laidback and unfussy, but the food is of a really high standard. The jacketed staff are friendly and helpful, always ready to recommend a wine or a particular dish. We love the Lucchese soup - a hearty bowl of grains, peas, broad beans and bacon, begging to be mopped up with the delicious home-baked bread.

La Veranda: Mediterranean cuisine. Open daily for breakfast and dinner.
Nour Lounge: aperitifs, wines, cocktails, snacks and small plates.
