Hotel Review
San Domenico Palace, Taormina, Sicily
Perched on a cliff top overlooking the sea on the edge of the characterful Medieval town of Taormina on Sicily's east coast, San Domenico Palace is one of Sicily's finest hotels, boasting panoramic views of Mount Etna and the Greek amphitheatre. Converted from a 14th century monastery and convent, the palatial building became a hotel in 1896 and has hosted high society ever since, including film stars Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren, and the writer Oscar Wilde. Now a Four Seasons, it has exquisite service, fine dining, top-notch spa treatments and is also the setting of season two of the HBO series White Lotus.
