Hotel Review
Toravaig House Hotel, Isle of Skye, Scotland
Warm, welcoming and startlingly well kept, you might be surprised by the interior of this white-painted 1930s house set just off the road down the Sleat peninsula, the hotel's wide bay windows overlooking Knock Bay. Inside the look is contemporary - but only just. Not that being a little bit dated in places matters when you consider the views, the comfort, the tea in front of the fire and drinks on the deck. It's a cheerful place and perfectly situated for exploring, with the added bonus of a distillery virtually next door. You will be transported down the road for dinner at the sister of this comfortable little hotel, but that's a story to dine out on.

Style & Character
Anyone looking to be quietly comfortable will be happy here. And children? They'll be spoilt rotten. We enjoyed sitting by the fire on a stormy afternoon, stuffing ourselves with scones and shortbread (after the cheese and charcuterie lunch).
Service & Facilities
We loved drinking champagne on the deck as the sun goes down (as long as the midges aren't out).

Food & Drink
It's a short stroll home from dinner, and we pretended it was working off the serious calories consumed. We recommend the main course of halibut with artichoke, clams and dashi, followed by Scottish raspberries with white chocolate and lip-smacking tahini caramel.
