WHAT WE LOVE...

Sitting on the east coast of the Isle of Mull, right next door to the Craignure ferry terminal, the location of this hotel can't get any better. The largest and most luxurious property on the island, it's an excellent bet for couples seeking a romantic weekend away with gorgeous views, or families who want to be by the sea. After an excellent renovation in 2021, the hotel has some seriously smart rooms, a restaurant that champions local produce and a fantastic spa for downtime and indulgent treatments. The lawns outside the hotel are a lovely place to walk, but the real highlight is the small beach at the end of the wooden boardwalks. Head down there at low tide with a glass of something from the bar and watch the light change in the sky at the end of the day - it's pure bliss.

THE DETAILS

Location

We loved our morning walks with the dog along the wooden boardwalks and through the sculpture trail that leads down to a rocky, white-sand beach.

The Isle of Mull is known for its rugged coastline and wildlife. You'll find Duart Castle a 10-minute drive from the hotel.
By ferry: ferries operate between Oban and Craignure and the journey time is 45 minutes. It's a 2-minute drive (or 10-minute walk) to the hotel. Free parking on-site. calmac.co.uk

Dining to the sound of the sea lapping on a Scottish beach was seriously special. The hand-dived scallops with chorizo were divine and the cheese plate was a perfect finisher.

Sea Deck bar: open daily for light bites, afternoon tea and drinks. Food served 12-5pm.
