WHAT WE LOVE...

Busy, buzzy, friendly Glasgow has a rapidly vanishing abundance of gloriously over-the-top examples of high-Victorian architecture but with an unbeatable city centre location just off George Square, this budget hotel in a former printworks preserves whispers of that past. Combined with an attractively crisp, almost austere aesthetic, bedrooms are so cunningly designed you'll hardly notice they're half the size of your usual hotel offering (and if you aren't dancing reels, who needs more space to sleep, shower and relax?). What it lacks in amenities, it makes up with a jolly reception/bar/café offering simple food and drink, and possibly the nicest staff in the city, leaving you with enough spare cash to splash out and explore the town in style.

Style & Character

Anyone who loves old buildings, strong design and good value will love staying here - they seldom come together so well. We loved the old printing equipment artistically positioned and lit at the bottom of the glass-light well.

Service & Facilities

The collection of big umbrellas to borrow by the door was thoughtful - Glasgow can be pretty dreich.

  • Café bar
  • Free Wi-Fi

Rooms

If you're claustrophobic, avoid internal-facing rooms, although light sleepers will love not having to use blackout curtains or ear plugs. The clever space beneath the bed is ideal for stowing your suitcase out of the way.

Z Inside Single, Z Inside Double, Z Double, Z Queen, Z Accessible
Facilities include: ensuite bathroom with toiletries, tea and coffee facilities, underbed storage, TV, free Wi-Fi

Food & Drink

We enjoyed watching the comings and goings with a gin and tonic in hand before heading out for the evening. You can't go wrong with a good bacon roll at any time of day, but the pizza is surprisingly good.

Café & Bar: all-day menu, open daily serving buffet breakfast, snacks and light bites. Free wine and cheese served daily, 5-8pm.
