WHAT WE LOVE...
Sitting on the site of an 18th-century barracks, The Lovat is a fantastic country house hotel on the shores of Loch Ness. The main house offers cosy bedrooms with homely touches, while the exterior Garden Rooms are great for dog owners seeking a bit of space. There are great views of that famous loch for Nessie-spotting opportunities, and foodies are well served by the on-site Station Road restaurant, which serves up tasting menus you won't forget in a hurry. Come here for romantic getaways on the shores of Loch Ness, with plenty of opportunity to get out on the water or take to the hills on foot.

We enjoyed exploring the ruins of 16th-century Urquhart Castle, which perches on a hill above the deep loch.
