WHAT WE LOVE...

Perched high above the River Douro, and looking across to the charming city of Porto proper, The Yeatman occupies an enviable position in what is essentially a separate town. Owned by the Fladgate Partnership, which also own several port labels - including Croft and Taylor's - the hotel is in Vila Nova, where port was once stored in handsome, red-roofed, white-walled warehouses after being produced in the Douro Valley. So the hotel pool is decanter-shaped, the cellar stores around 30,000 bottles and wine is even used in some of the Caudalie spa treatments. Sliced into a hillside, the 70 rooms (and 12 suites) are spread over six levels, all with an incredible view. The main restaurant is Michelin-starred, and each room is named after a different wine label. Gourmets will be happily at home here.
