WHAT WE LOVE...

With two golf courses, a spa, swimming pool, casual and smarter dining, terraces and lounges, plus family rooms, Slaley Hall offers the classic, all-round mini-break. Surrounded by farmland and woodland in south Northumberland, 30 minutes west of Newcastle and some 20 minutes from Hadrian's Wall, the hotel's core is an Edwardian country house. Several public rooms and a handful of bedrooms are in the old part, otherwise most bedrooms are in the 1980s wings of contemporary classic styling. Generous in size (space for two double beds), the best overlook the golf courses. Eating options range from brasserie to pub classics in family-friendly surrounds. It's a busy place, whether guests are staying for golf or spa, plus it's a popular wedding and corporate venue.
