WHAT WE LOVE...

This hotel differs from most in Amsterdam in that it's rather out on a limb in the Western Docklands, an up-and coming area some way from the centre, and also that it only has apartments, with kitchenettes and lounge areas. Many guests stay for a month or two, typically when waiting to find permanent accommodation in the city. It's also ideal for those wanting the option of self-catering. It is snazzily designed throughout, from the large lobby/restaurant/bar area to the homely, contemporary apartments. Features such as a large rich blue eight-seat sofa, a swish workstation island seating around ten, and a big copper-clad fireplace in the public areas add to the upbeat ambience.

THE DETAILS

It's great to experience a completely different side to the familiar central canal belt sector at this hotel.

Situated in the western docklands, hire a bike and cycle into the city centre to see the sights - or explore the nearby parks.
By plane: direct flights from London and Manchester take around 1 hour 15 minutes. The hotel is a 20-minute drive from Schiphol airport and a 10-minute drive from central station. Parking costs €25 per day. skyscanner.net
