WHAT WE LOVE...

Location barely gets better than this: sitting opposite the South Kensington underground station inside four handsome white townhouses with pillared porches and tiled entrances, The Pelham is a handy bolthole for a weekend away in London. Understated from the outside but sumptuous inside, the Italian-owned hotel's bedrooms are each entirely unique, with splashes of colour and excellent views of the hubbub that makes South Kensington such an enjoyable place to stay. There are lovely public lounges for relaxing with a drink or newspaper, and owing to its Italian roots, a quirky little trattoria in the basement where you'll find hearty pasta dishes in the evening.
