WHAT WE LOVE...
A formidable 1950s building on Finsbury Square, formerly the head office of the Royal Mail, has been converted into an ultra modern 253-bedroom five-star hotel with the emphasis on high technology. Featuring luxurious furnishings, and an attractive design that combines mid-century styling with contemporary accents, as well as a small but sumptuous spa and fashionable rooftop restaurant, it ticks all the boxes for both business and pleasure. Only a short walk from Liverpool Street station and close to where the hard working City of London shakes hands with the fashionable and fun-loving quarter of Shoreditch, this is the ideal choice for those hoping to mix a bit of high finance with high style and maybe even some high jinx.

On weekends, the streets around Finsbury Square are refreshingly quiet in comparison to other parts of the capital, so you're less likely to get caught up in the throng of selfie-stick toting tourists that clog up the pavements of the West End.
Royal London House is in the City of London financial district, with Shoreditch, Spitalfields Market, Brick Lane and the Barbican all nearby for shopping and going out.
By car: the hotel is 4 hours from Manchester, 2 hours 30 mins from Birmingham and 7 hours from Glasgow.

Style & Character
It's the ideal base for those doing business in this part of the city but wanting something with a bit more panache than the ubiquitous and often soulless global chains that usually court their trade. We love the bird-themed Aviary restaurant on the tenth floor with its opulent avian touches - stuffed birds of paradise, gilded cages, exotic feathers - combined with vintage lampshades and Art Deco furnishings. The outside area of Aviary has beer pumps on the tables to ease crowding at the bar which can get a little buzzy (raucous even) in the evening towards the end of the week. The Shorthorn Chateaubriand (for two) is beautifully tender.
