WHAT WE LOVE...

The red brick façade of the Bailey's Hotel is a distinctive sight along Gloucester Road and has been since the 1870s, when it became the area's first purpose-built hotel. This attractive and easygoing hotel, which is owned by the Millennium Hotel and Resorts Group, cleverly blends its Victorian roots with a cool contemporary style, which really comes to the fore in the hotel's charming Bugis Street Brasserie, specialising in Asian cuisine. The other chief asset of Bailey's is its location, right by Gloucester Road Underground station - so giving great access to the capital - and close to some of London's best museums. It's particularly good for families too with various enticements aimed at children.

THE DETAILS

Location

Enjoy the hotel's proximity to both art and green space; and as a quirky fact, the creator of Peter Pan, JM Barrie, lived a few doors away at No 133.

The bars and restaurants of Kensington are within easy walking distance, as are popular attractions including the Natural History Museum and Royal Albert Hall.
By car: the hotel is 2 hours 30 mins from Birmingham, 4 hours from Manchester and 1 hour 10 mins from Oxford. Paid private parking is available on-site.
By train: Paddington station is a 15-minute taxi ride from the hotel with connections to various UK cities. thetrainline.com

The Signature Suite is wonderfully spacious and has a roll-top bath; the room is reached via its own staircase. We love the quietness of the rooms (particularly as the hotel is on such a busy road) and the Nespresso machines in the suites.
