WHAT WE LOVE...

This glitzy hotel on Lake Maggiore's western shore is one of the lake's grandest, with stucco motifs, Venetian floors and gleaming chandeliers. Located on the lakefront road, this Belle Epoque mansion with Liberty-style interiors commands gorgeous views of the lake islands - you could easily while away a few hours gazing through the large windows at the bar and taking in the jaw-dropping lake vistas. Sprinkled here and there are works of art belonging to the Zanetta family (this is a family-run hotel). The spa is a real highlight, with a grotto housing a steam room, ice waterfall, multi-sensory shower walk and whirlpool tub. You'll also find an outdoor heated swimming pool looking out towards the lake, a private beach and three private jetties.

Style & Character

Great for couples seeking a peaceful and romantic getaway. While the afternoon away in the thermal grotto and then sip cocktails as you soak up wonderful lake views from the bar. This is one of the lake's most sumptuous hotels, although the decor is less traditional and the ambience less stuffy.

The waiters actively engage with guests, and dishes are presented with a little drama at the tables. I Mori, with its Liberty-style gazebo with large windows and wrought-iron tables provides an informal feel.

I Mori: Gourmet dining, Italian and traditional dishes including lake fish tempura and piedmont veal fillet.
Le Isole: Typical Italian cuisine, including burrata and roast lamb.
I Principi: Morning coffees, evening drinks and cocktails.
