Hotel Review
Palazzo Montemartini, Rome, Italy
The Palazzo Montemartini has a great location very near Rome's main train station, Termini - ideal for access to other parts of Rome, elsewhere in Italy, and the airport. Originally built in 1881 as a residence, it retains some elegance and combines 19th-century art nouveau architecture with contemporary minimalist design. There's a decent restaurant and bar, a rooftop bar, impressive underground spa and a small fitness room. The 82 bedrooms range from the quite compact to sprawling suites.

Style & Character
Families, friends and business people wanting a modern, comfortable hotel with good transport connections will enjoy staying here. Despite being in such a busy part of the city, the atmosphere at the hotel - set back from the street - is serene.
Service & Facilities
The little library area to the side of the lobby (essentially a lounge area with a wall of bookshelves, and a medium-sized selection of books and magazines) looks pretty swish.

Rooms
Room 322 is very spacious and billed as a Junior Suite. The room is on three levels, with the shower room (with a hammam/steam room) leading off from the lounge and bed areas. The spaciousness and white décor are certainly uplifting.

Food & Drink
There's a good and rather extensive wine list. Even the cheapest white by the glass - a local Castore Bellone - at €15 is very pleasant indeed. The risotto with pecorino, pepper, lemon and raw red prawn is very tasty.
Senses Restaurant & Lounge Bar: modern Italian cuisine and cocktail bar, open daily.
