WHAT WE LOVE...

This large four-star hotel is tucked away behind the imposing Duomo, with a white and rose granite front to match the pink-hued marble of the cathedral. Within, gold, pink and silver dominate, creating a warm and sleek feel. Italian furnishings are locally made, while abstract works of art add splashes of colour to the walls. With luxury apartments and 331 rooms spread out over four buildings, the hotel is not small - you're bound to get lost at least once in the maze of corridors. The hotel's signature colours continue in the rooms, with contemporary furnishings and attractive bathrooms with travertine marble washbasins. Menus at the three restaurants were developed in collaboration with Eataly, the country's vast food emporium that prides itself on sourcing local produce from small suppliers.

THE DETAILS

Location

We love the superb, central location, with all major sights within easy reach. Despite the hubbub of central Milan, the hotel is tucked away on a relatively quiet square, and feels calm and peaceful.

The hotel is on Piazza Fontana, a short walk from the Duomo and the shops of Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II.
By plane: fly to Milan Malpensa from London (1 hour 50 mins) and Manchester (2 hours 5 mins). The hotel is around an hour's drive from the airport. You can also fly from London to Milan Linate (1 hour 50 mins) and drive 25 minutes from the airport. Parking available on-site for €50 per day. skyscanner.net
