WHAT WE LOVE...

A wonderful hotel to stay at, if you are after somewhere characterful with charm, exceptionally friendly staff and hosts on hand to tell you historical tales as well as local advice on what to see and do in the area. It's only a short walk into pretty Clifden town centre where you'll find cute cafés, restaurants, a castle built in 1812, a quay and traditional Irish pubs. Food is of a good standard and the pub adds a lot of fun and a memorable atmosphere - especially the live music. Rooms and suites are very comfortable and feature four poster beds, chic standalone baths, useful amenities and impressive views - and the free parking is a big plus.

Style & Character

The lively atmosphere in the pub (in particular) and interaction from the hosts makes this ideal if you are a solo traveller, but couples, friends and families would feel very at home too. We loved the friendly barman and his great suggestions on local drinks.

Service & Facilities

The hosts treated us to some historical tales about Clifden and the hotel in the evening over a glass of wine, which we enjoyed listening to.

Food & Drink

The live music was good fun whilst we were eating. The wild Atlantic Way fish chowder was super creamy, hearty and very moreish - mopped up with bread, it was a real treat.

The Restaurant: fine dining, locally sourced produce, fresh fish and seafood. À la carte or daily Table D'Hôte menu. Open daily for dinner.

Castle Pub: Irish pub, buzzy atmosphere, live music. Open daily for lunch, dinner and drinks.
