WHAT WE LOVE...

Just two minutes' walk from Merrion Square and right in the heart of Georgian Dublin, The Alex is a stylish city centre hotel ideal for those who need easy access to the city or the nearby docklands, especially business travellers. Design takes its cues from the hotel's former role as a train station, mixed with a 1950s aesthetic. We love the ground floor library and co-working space, popular with the tech crowd, while executive types enjoy the sixth-floor lounge. Highlights include Steam Café, serving coffee from a local micro-roastery in the morning, and relaxing with cocktails in The Carriage upon your return.

THE DETAILS

Location

We love being able to step out of the hotel right into the heart of Georgian Dublin, just a few minutes away from Trinity College, Grafton Street and the city centre buzz.

Oscar Wilde's old house is but a moment's stroll from the front door.
By plane: there are direct flights to Dublin Airport from Manchester (1 hour), Birmingham (1 hour 5 minutes) and London (1 hour 15 minutes). The hotel is a 25-minute drive from the airport.

Style & Character

The Alex is ideal for someone who likes a hotel to have more personality - stylish touches include leather headboards, wool throws, bespoke mirrors and retro radios. We love the bespoke styling in the common areas with plush sofas, custom-made lamps and long walnut tables for the co-working space.

Service & Facilities

We love the buzzy informal ambience in the bar/restaurant and the long tables of the light-filled co-working space.
