WHAT WE LOVE...

Owned by local farming family the Watkins, the Castle House is a traditionally elegant hotel in a Grade II-listed Georgian villa and adjacent townhouse, with 24 classy rooms and suites, a bar and bistro and an excellent restaurant. The hotel is located in a quiet cul-de-sac in the centre of Hereford beside an ancient moat where otters have been known to frolic. Magnificent Hereford Cathedral with its famous Mappa Mundi is a short walk away, as is a wide selection of shops and restaurants. Castle House offers some of the city's best accommodation; guest rooms are of a classic, traditional style, those in the annexe a bit more modern. The conservatory restaurant looks out to a lovely garden and the now defunct castle's moat and serves a tasty and diverse range of dishes using locally-sourced ingredients including those from the hotel's kitchen garden.
