WHAT WE LOVE...

Langirsh House is a luxury B&B occupying a country house and sweeping grounds in the heart of the South Downs National Park. The rural location means you wouldn't guess it's just moments from the A3, and an eight-minute drive to Petersfield with its fast trains to London. The relaxed atmosphere makes you feel as though you're visiting a friendly uncle (the owner did, in fact, grow up in the house). Potter in the grounds or join the South Downs Way for a longer romp, then stop off for dinner in one of the local pubs, before returning to relax in the drawing room (although bring your own wine, because there isn't a bar). Browse the shelves of books or play a board game before retiring to your period styled room.

We love stepping out of the door into the glorious grounds and carrying on walking through miles of unspoilt countryside.

The hotel is tucked away in the countryside, but still only a short drive from Petersfield, and 14 miles from both Portsmouth and Winchester.

By train: the closest train station is Petersfield. Trains from London Waterloo take around 1 hour 10 minutes and 40 minutes from Portsmouth. The hotel is an 8 minute taxi ride away. thetrainline.com

Style & Character

Couples who come with their dogs will enjoy the long walks from the grounds. We love the feeling that you are staying in somebody's home and that you can imagine it is yours for the weekend.

Service & Facilities

We love talking to Nigel about the history of the house and hearing his stories of growing up in the property. Up to three dogs are allowed per booking and each dog gets a 'Welcome Pack' which includes a welcome letter, dog treats, water bowl, dog blanket, fluffy towel, poopascoopa and bags and a Langrish House dog tag if required.

  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Free parking
  • Room service
  • Child friendly

Rooms

We love the personal touches in the rooms; the well-leafed books, the vases of flowers, the unique pieces of antique furniture. Constance Louisa (room 19) is a wonderfully spacious room with double aspect windows over the garden, a king sized bed and cheery yellow painted walls.

Luxury B&B Rooms
Facilities include: ensuite bathroom, TV, Wi-Fi and tea and coffee-making facilities, stunning views over the extensive grounds

Food & Drink

Breakfast options include a vegetarian and vegan full-English as well as scrambled eggs and smoked salmon and fresh porridge with honey and berries. Langrish's ex head chef has opened a restaurant called Nathan Marshall at Plestor House (nathanmarshallsrestaurant.co.uk), which is highly recommended.

The hotel does not run a full restaurant but they run a full breakfast each morning. Hot breakfasts are cooked to order.
