WHAT WE LOVE...

An ivy-clad pub right on the banks of the River Avon in a rural setting not far from the seaside town of Lymington. Grab yourself a riverside table to enjoy the excellent cuisine that champions British produce from the surrounding area. The lively bar and restaurant are popular with locals and have a great buzz on a Friday and Saturday night. Rooms have a country B&B feel but some have surprisingly modern bathrooms with powerful showers and freestanding tubs. The rambling gardens invite you to explore with oversized chairs to pose for Instagram photos and a pergola to watch the river flowing by.

THE DETAILS

Location

We love going for a walk and stumbling upon the full-size adult swing hung in a tree, perfect for enjoying the rural views.

The National Motor Museum at Beaulieu is a 20-minute drive away as is Bucklers Hard where they built ships for Nelson's Navy.
By car: from London the drive takes 2 hours and 30 minutes, from Salisbury 1 hour and from Southampton a mere 40 minutes.
By train: Sway is a five-miute taxi ride from the hotel, accessed from Southampton in 25 minutes or from London Waterloo via Brockenhurst in just under 2 hours. thetrainline.com
