Hotel Review
Bohemia Suites and Spa, Playa del Inglés, Gran Canaria
Playa del Inglés used to be the Gran Canaria version of Magaluf. Then along came gentrification and with it hotels like Bohemia Suites & Spa, catering for a more sophisticated clientele. In came haute cuisine, out went all-day English breakfasts. Craft cocktails replaced pints of lager. The five-star Bohemia is one of only two Design Hotels on the island. It is much easier on the eye than its predecessor, Hotel Apolo, which was no Apollo in the looks department. These days, Bohemia stands out for all the right reasons. A top-floor restaurant called 360° offers panoramic views over Playa del Inglés: beach and resort. The lobby, with murals from Juan Cabrera Cruz, is almost an art gallery.
