Hotel Review
Seaside Palm Beach, Maspalomas, Gran Canaria
Palm Beach is a prosperous town in Florida originally set up as a winter resort. Seaside Palm Beach, meanwhile, is a five-star hotel in the south of Gran Canaria that received a post-millennial upgrade, mimicking the glamorous establishments of Miami circa 1970 with the boldest of brushstrokes. Palm trees? Check. Beach? Ditto. So far away, so very similar. There is a confidence about the hotel that exudes personality. It's an escape within an escape. One could happily relax the day away by the pools. For those seeking more adventure, the Sahara-like dunes of Maspalomas are easily reached on flip-flops. This is cool Gran Canaria, the sexy south. Both clientele and island locals wear their designer labels like badges of honour.

Style & Character
This hotel is ideal for couples and families seeking a sunny retreat from January all the way through to December. We love the wonderfully evocative 70s flashback vibe stylishly offered by Bar Salón, complete with a riot of daring colours including purple.

Rooms
Our favourite rooms are The Corner Deluxe - a double room in size but with the benefits of an Illy espresso machine and daily newspaper delivery. Verdant palms here, there, and seemingly everywhere give the impression of taking up a temporary residence in a sub-tropical grove.

Esencia's neoclassical vichyssoise brings a little something extra by adding tart-sweet freeze-dried raspberries to the mix, while La Bodega's pineapple with palm honey and honey-rum ice cream is the essence of the Canary Islands distilled in a dessert.
Esencia: Mediterranean fine dining, such as hors d'oeuvre of quail breast with couscous and Miso lime vinaigrette. Reservations required.
La Bodega: classic tapas. Open Weds-Sun for dinner in summer.
