This homely and comfortable restored 16th-century farmhouse is set in the heart of the 700-acre Seven Sisters Country Park off the South Downs Way. It is ideal for an easygoing, relaxing break consisting of glorious walks and cycle rides, good food and a dip into the best of English rural life. It features a lovely garden, and a characterful guest lounge and bedrooms boasting original features like wooden beams, blending with modern touches such as Scandi-style seating. Shingle beach, forest and heathland walks lead to cosy country pubs, inviting tea rooms and pretty villages.

We loved having a great choice of forest, coastal and heathland walks on the doorstep.
Seven Sisters Country Park is steps away from the hotel. It's a 20-minute walk to Cuckmere beach, and 20-minute drive to Eastbourne.
By car: under 3 hours from London and Oxford, 2 hours from Dover and 3 hours 45 minutes from Birmingham.
By train: London Bridge to Seaford takes around 1 hour 15 minutes. The hotel is an 8-minute drive from the station. thetrainline.com

The Saltwater Suite has two double bedrooms with compact ensuite shower rooms and a living room with an open fire. It has original features, including lots of beams, exposed stone and brick, and original floorboards. The provision of bright freshly-cut flowers is a nice touch.

Food & Drink
There's a great choice of wines and spirits at the attractive honesty bar. The warm goats cheese and walnut salad starter consists of a huge plate of crunchy peppers, tomatoes and salad leaves with creamy goats cheese on top of sweet caramelised onion and sourdough.
Friston Room: breakfast and dinner served daily (must be pre-ordered the day before). Breakfast served 8-10am.
Saltmarsh Kitchen: café and courtyard, serving light bites, pastries and snacks. Open from 10am.
