Hotel Review
Hotel Excelsior, Dubrovnik, Croatia
Marrying an original 1913 hotel of pale Dalmatian stone with a modern 1970s addition, the five-star Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik lords it over the Adriatic from its prime coastal spot. Inside, though, it's harmoniously cool and contemporary, seamlessly moving from the venerable Villa Odak to the newer mirrored Tower. Set just south of the medieval walls of the Old Town, the hotel puts in you full sight in one of the most heavenly views of Dubrovnik. From the three restaurant terraces to the stone bathing platform and the sea-facing rooms, that view of terracotta rooftops and stone walls follows you around. But if you find yourself in one of the rooms facing the street, it's worth stumping up for a sea view.
