WHAT WE LOVE...

Even from the outside, the 1920s townhouse, in quiet Rue du Chatelaine in the hip Ixelles district south of the city centre, is a smart affair in grey and black. These colours continue inside which serve to emphasise the feeling that this is a private members' club. Furnishings are velvet, lighting is subtle while black-and-white photographs - fashion shoots and iconic names - line the walls. The monochrome palette, with cool use of white, gives the handful of bedrooms a spare but luxurious feel with deep pile carpets, black-painted floorboards and marble bathrooms. There's a classic French menu, and an extensive wine list. A chic and seductive little spot.

THE DETAILS

Location

We love wandering the neighbouring streets - such as Rues Belle Vue, Paul Emelie Janson and Defacqz - to spot the swirling lines and decorative motifs of wonderfully preserved Art Nouveau buildings.

The renowned Horta Museum, housing the private collection of Victor Horta, is a 10-minute stroll from the hotel.
By plane: there are direct flights from London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol and Birmingham. The hotel is a 30-minute drive from the airport.
By train: the Eurostar goes direct from London St Pancras to Brussels (2 hours). The terminal is a 10-minute drive from the hotel.

Style & Character

This hotel is ideal for couples who are looking for a romantic bolthole but one that is classy and hip rather than frills-and-flowers. You can drift around the rooms trying to identify the photographs - vintage street scenes as well as personalities - we particularly like those of Mohammed Ali.

Service & Facilities

Sitting on the outside terrace is the perfect place to do some serious people-watching.

Rooms

All rooms have the same fittings, they just vary in size, but Room 4 (which is not the biggest) has a secret little terrace. We love that they all have a bath (set into marble surrounds) as well as shower and luxury, custom-made bathroom products.

Classic Room, Classic Room +, Deluxe Room, Odette Room
Facilities include: ensuite bathroom with 'Odette en ville' toiletries, TV, high-speed Wi-Fi

Food & Drink

The dining room is carefully lit with candles and low-level lights over each table creating a very intimate atmosphere. Sitting at the shiny bar and debating which cocktail to choose gets the evening off to a suitably seductive start.

The restaurant: classic French cooking with an Asian twist. Open for lunch and dinner Mon-Fri and lunch Sat-Sun. Mains from €26.
The lounge & bar: classic, classy, extensive menu. Open Tue-Sat 6pm-1am.
