WHAT WE LOVE...

With its pool table, help-yourself snacks and laidback atmosphere, this handsome building in a residential street in the fashionable Ixelles district feels more like the large home of a family friend than a hotel. And a friend with a good eye for design. Named after the nearby Avenue Louise, with its smart shops, the family-owned guesthouse has a cool style of soothing colours, bold wallpapers and retro furnishings. There's plenty of space to lounge around, including a courtyard, while breakfast in the conservatory is a splendid affair. Ixelles has plenty of neighbourhood restaurants and interesting food markets and there are nearby buses if you don't fancy the 30-minute walk into the centre.

THE DETAILS

Location

At weekends, we love browsing the food stalls of the market in Place Flagey, followed by a stroll around the 'etangs d'Ixelles' (large ponds).

The renowned Horta Museum, housing the work of Art Nouveau architect Victor Horta, is a 10-minute stroll from the hotel.
By plane: there are direct flights from London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol and Birmingham. The hotel is a 25-minute drive from the airport.
By train: the Eurostar goes direct from London St Pancras to Brussels (2 hours). The terminal is a 10-minute drive from the hotel.

Style & Character

Ideal for people who want to feel part of a Brussels neighbourhood, rather than be in the bright and busy centre, and who don't mind walking. The easy atmosphere and lack of formality is very beguiling; you can pad around in stockinged feet without turning heads.

Service & Facilities

Coming back from a day's sight-seeing, it is a joy to flop in one of the leather chairs having helped yourself to a hot drink and sweet pastry.

  • Bar
  • Garden
  • Terrace
  • Coffee house
  • Billiards
  • Free Wi-Fi

Rooms

Rooms on the higher floors have the best views; some are on two levels. The neatness of the design - wall-hung angle-poise lamps, for example, to save space - makes the rooms very calming and restful.

Cosy, Confort, Charming, Exécutive
Facilities include: bathroom with walk-in rain shower, blackout shutters, flat-screen TV, high-speed Wi-Fi

Food & Drink

The conservatory breakfast room has a Scandi feel with its pale-wood floor, white walls, floor-to-ceiling windows and contemporary grey and white furniture. Being able to enjoy a coffee outside in the peaceful courtyard is a lovely way to start the day.

Royal Breakfast: gourmet, classic continental breakfast. Served 7-10am weekdays, 8-11am weekends.
